The ability to take in a complete breath during inhalation is quite essential for COPD and Asthma patients. With improper inhalation techniques like breathing in too fast or too slow the medicine either gets stuck in the mouth or back of the throat instead of going to the small airways of the lungs where it is most required. When inhaled correctly, the medicine has a better chance to reach the small airways of the lungs.
What helps to deliver the medication into your lungs is your own inhaling(inspiratory)breathing. Your breathing should be Slow and Deep to inhale the medicine from the inhaler device. When you take in a Slow and Deep breath through the mouthpiece of the Autohaler, the fine mist medication is drawn deeper into the lungs to provide effective relief.

Breathing Slow and Deep may sound simple to you and while reading this you may have also tried deep breathing once, but did you realize that while attempting to do so, you actually had to make an active effort to breathe deep and still you are not sure if your inhaling was deep enough?
So you need to learn how deep to breathe in Slowly and Deeply so as to bring in a greater quantity of air and fill your lungs to a higher capacity than normal breathing and in-turn take in full and effective dose.
